Our Doggys Day Out program is a great way to give our pups a break from the kennel environment and get them seen by potential adopters! You can take one of our pups to the park, go for a hike, or simply relax in your home. The potential for fun is endless!
To participate in Doggys Day Out:
- Participating humans MUST be 21 years or older.
- All dogs eligible to participate are microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
- You will be provided with a leash, collar and/or harness, and an “adopt-me” vest/bandanna for the dog you choose.
- Participating dogs MUST remain on leash at all times, unless in a enclosed area of your home or a private securely fenced-in yard.
- Participating dogs are not allowed to go to dog parks or to meet other pets.

Share your adventure!
Be sure to post about your fun day with your shelter dog on social media! Use #RAVEDoggysDayOut. Potential adopters love to see adoptable dogs enjoying a day outside of their kennel. You never know who may be watching, and your friends can always share your post to reach even more people.
Please send any notes, photos & videos of your day to rave.hollyhill@gmail.com. We may also share your outing to our social media channels, feature the story in a post, use the story for promotion of our programs, and will use the information to better advertise the dog to potential adopters who come to us hoping for their new family member. We cannot thank you enough for capturing valuable information about our dogs!
Is there a cost to participate?
The program is FREE, but there is a suggested donation of $20 to help RAVE continue to provide compassionate care to gently used pets in need.
Can I take my Dog Day Out dog to a dog park?
NO, we ask that you abide by our requests that dogs stay on leash whenever outside and are not introduced to other dogs. Additional guidance will be provided during the field trip checkout process.
Can I hang out with a RAVE dog for more than one day?
If you’d like to treat an adult shelter dog to a mini-getaway, then our Stray Staycation program is for you! Stray Staycations give our adult dogs a much-needed break from the kennel and help us learn more about their personalities.
Can I adopt my Doggys Day Out dog?
There is no pressure to adopt your Doggys Day Out pup, but it is always an option.
Are there any days/times when Doggys Day Out isn’t available?
During future adoption events, we will put a pause on the program. This is to benefit the dogs, as we hope to get many, many potential adopters on these days.
